Mr. Zimmermann was born in Merrill, Wisconsin. He was graduated at the top of his class in the following schools: Bethany Lutheran School, Hustisford, Wisconsin; Northwestern Prep School, Watertown, Wisconsin; and Northwestern College, Watertown, Wisconsin. He also earned the equivalent of a Master's Degree at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, Wisconsin, plus a few credits toward a Master of Sacred Theology Degree.
After serving as pastor in rural Minnesota for six years, he spent about fifteen years in Latin America, promoting his poetry in various schools and sometimes sojourning in San Lucas Tolimán in Guatemala.
In 2005, he married an excellent wife and settled down.
